A Server of Ice and Fire is a Minecraft server based around Game of Thrones. It takes place in Westeros, the world of Game of Thrones. It's a continent that's divided by seven kingdoms, all ruled by one great house. All kingdoms are united underneath one king, the one sitting on the iron throne. But the lords of Westeros want the throne too, so they all go to war with each other.

The servers timeline will not be the same as the one of the series. It will take place just before it, when the Targaryens are on the throne. Where it heads after that is for the players to decide.

What do I do?

Well, it's actually pretty simple. You do what ever you want. Roleplay means that you come up with a character, and pretend to be them. You can start a business, rule a kingdom, make a mercenary group, sit on the Iron Throne, or just hang out with friends. Anything is possible. 

Of course, we can't let you do litterally everything, as there should be some limits. Sexual Roleplay, for instance, isn't allowed. For more about this, you should check the rules page.

From time to time our staff will host events. These large Roleplay events can vary from a battle in a war, to a big party, to a monster attack. Events like parties or gatherings can also be hosted by players, though wars and monster hunts can't. Events will always be announced a few days before it takes place in our discord server and in our forums, so make sure to follow all news about them. Not only are events a way to get some good Roleplay and events that can play a big part in your character's life, they can also be a way to make new friends, or meet a new nemesis.

Do I have to watch Game of Thrones?

No, you don't. The server takes place before the series start, and the way it will go will be determined by the players. It is however, recommended to know some of the basic lore, like house names, events in the history, and place names. The more you play, the more you will learn from it, and when you're in the server for a while you probably already know quite a lot of it.

Not everything that comes with the Game of Thrones world will be provided in our server, like the continent of Essos, or the children of the forest. These are things that will be introduced later on, or not at all. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask the Lore Team about it.

What are main events?

Main events are events that play a big role on our server. They will consist of multiple events that are related. These events are over a long period of time,  and will all be hosted by the staff members. Most of the time, these also introduce new lore to the server.
A monster that is threatening the worlds existence. A mysterious power that looms over Westeros. These could all be main events. 

What great houses are there right now?

At the moment there are nine houses. These houses are all lead by a house leader. These leaders must make sure the house grows, and do with it what they want to do with it. The current houses and their leaders are:

If you want to lead a house yourself, you need to fill in the application below. If it is accepted, you can make a character with the same last name as your house title. If you already have a character with that name, this isn’t necessary.
